Rakhi Card!

Hola!

My bro is coming tonight and we would have an extended Rakhi celebration till 24th Aug. ( Am on leave this Monday! - Yipee!!)

Hence i had to quickly make this card before he is here! I took 45 minutes exact to complete this card without an idea of what it would come out like.

Note: For my dear international friends here is the meaning and reason for celebrating this occasion in India! :)

Rakhi Celebration : The true meaning of human values

Indians believe that relationships are the essence of celebration. Rakhi festival in India holds the true meaning. Also known as Raksha Bandhan, this festival brings the whole family together. That mere togetherness is celebration which calls for a total festive environment.

Raksha bandhan is a day to celebrate the sacred relation of brothers and sisters. It is a festival that primarily belongs to the North and Western regions of India but celebrated throughout the country with the same verve. Regional celebrations may be different but Raksha bandhan has become an integral part of the custom and tradition of India.

I ended up making a pocket card... finally :) Also a little piece of good news... My guinea Pig Gobbes gave birth to 2 cuties yesterday and they are up and running around her already :D. If you are on FB with me u can see their video and pics.

Ok back to the card- so i have used lotsa embossing! Tim holtz distress embossing powders and cuttlebug and the rakhi is also handmade :) Lotsa Bling bling too!!

Thanks for looking!

Flash Back Friday - Being brave!

Hey,

Since the candy post i have been silently following up with all your lovely work and card challenge submissions!

Though I do have all my material in place i dont get the time. Grrrr. I miss it when i was in Bangalore where me and my flatmate cooked alternately n that often gave me a chance to engage in a marathon to finish some projects.

Anyways, i will try harder n keep pace before i go extinct :)

Its a nostalgic moment sharing my first card at the "Flashback Friday" challenge at Tsuruta Designs. I made this not to long back on 14th Dec 2009 :)

I am feeling elated remembering how i got introduced to quilling and this card was made for my super boss then. He and his wife were so happy to see it that they requested me to teach it to their son. Thats how the first quilling workshop for kids happened :). So its a card full of memories for me.

Thanks for looking!

Pink n Green!

Hey dearies!

I made this card sometime back and wanted to share with you all. IT began on a different line and ended up totally differently. he he. Something we all have experienced.

I used cuttlebug and some sponging to get the shades. I don't have a corner rounder ans used a old cardboard photo frame to cut the corner shapes. You can see they arn't neat. For the top layers i used a Carl's corner rounder with a butterfly punch.

the background was done using roller stamps and then some rough looking green embossing. Gave a very unique look. I liked it :)

I added a sticker for best wishes and a golden ribbon. The mettalic pink rose is from Itsy Bitsy and am in love with it.

This card goes for challenge at Creative Inspiration: Anything Goes

Cheers!
